Shop visiting is not for every man. Sometimes it feels like some sort of punishment and boring stuff for men. Controversially, I like to visit or go shopping especially if it is a cashmere store. Today I visited Gobi cashmere’s branch at Ulaanbaatar Gallery.
Gobi Cashmere is definitely the leading Cashmere manufacturer in Mongolia. If you visit my country, your Mongolian colleagues offer you cashmere garments from this brand. It was established by the Japanese government grant program in 1981. Indeed, it was the second world war Japanese war compensation for the Mongolian government. It solely holds almost 70% of the cashmere and woolen market of Mongolia.
Gobi company produces an average of 800,000 pieces of knitwear, 25,000 pieces of garments, and 350,000 meters of textiles a year and sells them to domestic and foreign markets. In fact, the domestic cashmere market is very competitive and it still dominates the cashmere sector.
Customer relations staff says that the company ships cashmere garments directly to the USA, Russia, China, and European Union countries. Otherwise, you can buy its products from a direct franchise store which operates in 12 countries and 51 branches. You can see the locations in the below pictures. By the way, It opened franchise stores in Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
1. Uniqueness
What makes this brand unique?. The company processes 4 kind of colored cashmere which is only observable in Mongolia such as white, warm grey, brown and beige. Most cashmere garments are 100% pure cashmere. It feels organic and soft.
2. Impression
It is nice to touch the 100% pure cashmere garments. Indeed, it is very thin compared to blended cashmere garments. Because blended cashmere which includes woolen, and polyester is much heavier and thick. But pure cashmere feels like touching silk. I

Cashmere accessories like hats and shawls are so handy. It has a lot of color choices too. I saw that it is not easy to make a brand from the scratch. Gobi company spent 31 years building up its own brand awareness and qualified cashmere.
3. Cashmere maintenance
It seems like most people come here to buy cashmere products as gifts. But some people here for maintenance service. One customer complains about his cashmere sweater has shrunk after he washed it. Maybe it sounds strange to someone who first heard about it. Do cashmere garments shrink after washing?. You can read it here. Based on my experience, I know what kind of mistake he did. I bet he used hot water to wash his cashmere sweater. The customer says that from now on he will always use a dry cleaning service.
As I see the pricing table, dry cleaning varies from 2.5$ to 10$. Cashmere cloth repairing ranges from 2.5$ to 8$.
Finally, I spent around 3 hours in the store. I did not know how fast time flies. but I am sure that it is worth of time. The store contains all kinds of cashmere garments like blazers, cardigans, sweaters, coats, and accessories. I hope that if you visit Mongolia one day, you will try the Gobi cashmere store too.
